卖家的描述
Item Description:
明石竜太郎 Akashi Ryotaro
This elegant silver-glazed flower vessel (ginsai hana-ike) is a refined example of contemporary Japanese studio ceramics by Akashi Ryotaro, a Tokyo-based ceramicist celebrated for his distinctive command of surface and form.
The vessel presents a rounded, subtly organic silhouette with a narrow mouth opening, its entire exterior enveloped in a lustrous silver glaze (ginsai) that shimmers with extraordinary depth and complexity.
The glaze surface shifts between cool metallic silver, soft pewter grey, and warm shadowed passages — the result of the artist's meticulous multi-stage process of shaping, carving, burnishing, and firing.
The narrow circular mouth contrasts beautifully with the full, generous body, creating a vessel at once restrained and sensuously three-dimensional.
The interior is finished in the same silver glaze, completing the piece with characteristic attention to detail.
This work was exhibited at a solo exhibition held at Mitsukoshi Nihombashi, one of Japan's most prestigious department store galleries, confirming the artist's standing within the contemporary Japanese craft world.
The piece is accompanied by its original wooden presentation box (tomobako) bearing the artist's signature.

Artist Profile
Akashi Ryotaro(明石竜太郎)is a contemporary Japanese ceramicist based in Tokyo, working with two contrasting materials — black clay (kurodotsuchi) and white porcelain clay — which he treats as entirely separate artistic languages, a practice he describes as his own form of "two-sword style." His black clay works are richly decorative, involving extensive hand processes of carving, texturing, and burnishing; his white porcelain works are characterised by precision of form and quietly refined surface quality. His silver-glazed pieces occupy a space between the two: luminous in surface yet grounded in sculptural form. He has held solo exhibitions at prestigious venues including Mitsukoshi Nihombashi and Daikanyama gallery Glory, and his work is collected for both its aesthetic quality and its quiet functional presence.
