Exquisite Late Qing Dynasty Carved Porcelain "Bird and Prunus" lidded Jar.
Marked (attributed to) Wang Bingrong Zuo (王炳榮作).

This monumental and rare masterwork of Chinese ceramic art represents the pinnacle of 19th/20th century carved porcelain. Attributed to the celebrated master Wang Bingrong, the most prominent ceramic artist of the Daoguang to Tongzhi periods (c. 1820–1875), this jar is a superlative example of the "scholar’s studio" aesthetic.

Artistry and Detail
The jar is decorated in high-relief appliqué with a classic "Bird and Flower" (Huiniao) motif. Intricately carved birds perch upon blossoming plum branches (Prunus), symbolizing perseverance and the arrival of spring.

Signature Detail: Notably, the birds feature tiny, hand-applied cobalt blue underglaze eyes, a distinctive hallmark of Wang Bingrong’s meticulous attention to detail.( You can see it at daylight photo)

Technique: The three-dimensional relief displays exceptional depth, with branches and plumage physically lifting off the vessel’s body.

Provenance of Craft: The interior clearly displays horizontal throwing lines, confirming the jar was hand-turned on a potter’s wheel in the traditional manner of the Jingdezhen kilns.

Condition and Authenticity
The jar presents in a beautiful, "honest" condition that validates its late Qing origin.

The Body: Preserved in excellent condition with no cracks or chips to the main vessel.

The Mark: The base features the deeply impressed four-character seal script mark "Wang Bingrong Zuo".

The Foot Rim: Shows characteristic oxidation and natural wear, including a minor "honest" chip that reveals the fine grayish-white kaolin paste.

The Lid: Includes the rare original lid; a section of the edge has been repasted, preserving the integrity of the set.

The Relief: Minor chipping to approximately 8 flower petals, common for delicate appliqué of this age, which serves to emphasize the hand-crafted nature of the work.

Collector's Note:
At over 37 cm in height, this is an unusually large and significant example of attribution to Wang Bingrong. Most extant pieces are significantly smaller, making this a rare "statement" object for the serious collector of Qing Dynasty porcelain.
