Bechar 008 – Howardite (HED Achondrite)
Origin: Bechar, Algeria | Discovered: 2022
An exceptional piece of one of the most sought-after meteorites of the year.

This is an official Howardite, classified by the Meteoritical Bulletin (MB 112), representing an authentic fragment of the crust of asteroid 4 Vesta, the second largest body in the asteroid belt. Howardites belong to the HED (Howardite-Eucrite-Diogenite) group and are considered among the oldest and most fascinating rocks in the solar system.
Key features of this specimen:
• Polymictic breccia with a fine matrix and abundant clasts of eucrite and diogenite visible to the naked eye.

• The polished face clearly shows the brecciated structure with fragments of different colors (grays, yellowish, whitish, and metallic tones), typical of this meteorite.

• Excellent contrast between the earthy fusion crust and the mineral-rich interior surface.

• Low degree of weathering and moderate shock, which preserves its original characteristics very well.

• Total known fall weight: only 1,700 grams (one of the rarest and most recent howardites on the market).
This specimen magnificently illustrates the complex nature of howardites: a “blanket” of asteroidal regolith formed by successive impacts that mixed different types of rocks from Vesta. Each clast tells a story of cosmic collisions that occurred billions of years ago.
Rarity:
Howardites of this caliber with good internal material and official provenance are highly sought after by serious collectors and museums. Bechar 008 is one of the most recent significant additions to the Vesta meteorite catalog, and its small total mass makes each piece unique and valuable.
Ideal for high-level collecting, display, or investment. A genuine piece of one of the most studied planetary bodies by NASA (Dawn mission).

I am offering an exceptional, large specimen of Bechar 008, an official Howardite from asteroid 4 Vesta.

• Weight: 265 grams
• Classification: Howardite (HED Achondrite) – Meteoritical Bulletin MB 112
• Provenance: Bechar, Algeria – Found in 2022
• Total TKW: Only 1,700 grams (this piece represents more than 15% of the known material)
This spectacular specimen displays a well-preserved earthy fusion crust on several faces and a polished surface that perfectly reveals its polymictic breccia structure, with abundant clasts of eucrites and diogenites in various colors (grays, yellows, whites, and metallic tones).
Howardites are rocks from the crust and regolith of asteroid 4 Vesta, studied by NASA's Dawn mission. This piece is one of the largest available from this recent and rare fall.

Dimensions are approximate (7.5 x 6 x 4 cm). Shipping is insured with tracking number and fully padded. If you are unsure about purchasing this item, please do not deprive another buyer of the opportunity. Thank you.
