卖家的描述
Netherlands East Indies – VOC Duit 1790 – Incuse Brockage Error
Obverse:
Raised VOC monogram with date below, probably 1790. The design is weakly struck but recognisable. Copper flan with brown-orange patina.
Reverse:
Incuse mirror image of the VOC monogram and date, caused by a brockage striking error. Instead of the normal crowned Utrecht arms, the reverse shows the negative impression of the opposite side.
Historical Context:
This is an error strike of the well-known VOC duit 1790 type. Although dated 1790 and carrying the VOC monogram, many coins of this type were struck later for circulation in the Netherlands East Indies, including issues produced in Soerabaja around 1840–1843. These later pieces imitated the older VOC coinage and were intended for colonial circulation.
The present coin is a brockage / incuse error. This occurred when a previously struck coin remained stuck to a die and impressed its design in negative into the next blank. Such errors are known on VOC duit-type coinage, but complete and clearly recognisable examples remain collectible.
Specifications:
Copper
Denomination: duit
Date: 1790, as visible/type
