A beautiful volume featuring the famous “Ishiyama-dera Engi Emaki” (Illustrated Legends of Ishiyama-dera Temple), one of the masterpieces of Japanese emakimono art and an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
The Ishiyama-dera Engi depicts the foundation of Ishiyama-dera Temple and the miraculous stories associated with its principal Buddhist deity, the Nyoirin Kannon.
