“Le Notre's Gardens，” a photo book by British photographer Michael Kenna—whose serene, poetic works and exceptional printing techniques have made him extremely popular in Japan. Born in Lancaster, England, he moved to the United States after studying photography and printing techniques in London. He settled in San Francisco and worked for nearly a decade under Ruth Bernhardt, a female photographer renowned for her nude work, where he honed his photographic and printing skills. His subsequent career is well-known; he has held over 100 exhibitions in Japan alone, and he continues to enjoy a steady following of Japanese fans and collectors. This book features gardens designed by André Le Nôtre, the renowned French landscape architect and garden designer, as captured by Kenna’s camera. It includes the gardens of the Palace of Versailles, which he created under Louis XIV.
