Antique 800 Silver Pierced Centrepiece Bowl with Putti – Europe – circa 1900

A beautifully crafted antique solid silver centrepiece bowl executed in finely pierced (ajour) silverwork, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.

The bowl is richly decorated with elegant openwork panels featuring floral garlands, stylised foliage and ornamental scrollwork. The central medallion displays a charming repoussé scene depicting several playful cherubs (putti) surrounded by flowers and a romantic natural landscape.

The delicate open gallery rim enhances the refined and luxurious appearance of the piece. The combination of pierced decoration and sculpted relief demonstrates high-level silversmith craftsmanship typical of Central European silver production around 1900.

The underside bears a maker’s mark in a rectangular cartouche together with the 800 silver standard, indicating production most likely in Germany or Austria, possibly from the Hanau region, which was renowned for its high-quality artistic silverwork.

Good antique condition with light wear consistent with age and careful use. No visible major damage or repairs.
