In fact, the reels’ size and the 9.5 cm/s playback speed are the same as reel tapes and represent the Sony EL 7’s secret.

For accuracy, it should be noted, as visible in the photos, a small scratch on the lower left edge of the front panel and some light marks on the upper aluminum flange of the case due to overlap with other electronics. In particular, the front scratch of about one centimeter is visible only from certain angles and in backlight.
Another indication I want to provide to the future buyer concerns the correct operation of the device. In particular, as recommended by Sony itself, the cassette tape must always be kept taut. To this end, a small tool similar to a screwdriver was provided to manually perform this procedure. It is advisable to check with each winding or fast-forward operation that the tape is always properly tensioned to avoid tangling inside the cassette.
