Description
I am pleased to offer a substantial 200 g specimen of the rare Lunar meteorite Adrar 013, cut from the original stone to reveal its remarkable internal structure.
The polished surface displays a beautiful brecciated texture formed on the Moon during ancient impact events. Numerous light-colored feldspathic clasts, likely rich in lunar plagioclase, are embedded within a grey impact-melt matrix and crossed by an intricate network of shock fractures created during violent asteroid collisions billions of years ago.
A particularly attractive dark lithic inclusion is visible along one edge of the specimen, providing a striking contrast with the surrounding feldspathic material and highlighting the complex geological history recorded within this lunar rock.
This specimen offers both exceptional aesthetics and scientific interest, allowing collectors to observe details normally hidden inside a complete stone.
A genuine fragment of the Moon.

Shock Stage: High
Officially published in the Meteoritical Bulletin.
Offered Lot
Weight: 200 g
Preparation: Cut specimen
Display Face: Polished section revealing the internal lunar texture
Exterior: Natural desert patina preserved
Reconstruction: None
Authenticity: Guaranteed genuine lunar meteorite
History & Provenance
Adrar 013 was discovered in the Algerian Sahara in 2023 and officially classified as a Lunar meteorite.
The original meteorite consisted of several fragments including a large individual stone of approximately 3 kg. This specimen originates from that larger mass and was cut to expose its internal lunar lithology.
The meteorite was acquired in 2025 from a trusted Algerian meteorite dealer.
Scientific Interest
Adrar 013 belongs to the extremely rare family of Lunar melt breccias, rocks formed when powerful asteroid impacts shattered, melted and reassembled pre-existing lunar crustal materials. These processes created a complex mixture of feldspathic fragments, impact melts and lithic clasts preserved within a single rock.
The specimen displays:
• Numerous feldspathic clasts derived from the ancient lunar crust.
• A large dark lithic inclusion visible on the edge of the section.
• Well-developed shock fracture networks.
• Attractive contrasts between light and dark lunar lithologies.
• Excellent display quality for collectors and researchers alike.
Authenticity & Classification
Official Name: Adrar 013
Classification: Lunar meteorite (melt breccia)
Petrologic Type: Anorthositic norite-gabbro melt breccia
Published in the Meteoritical Bulletin Database
Guaranteed Authentic Lunar Material
