For sale: a rare color lithograph by the renowned Dutch painter and sculptor Karel Appel, co-founder of the CoBrA movement.
Artwork Details:

• Technique: Color lithograph on paper
• Edition: Épreuve d'artiste, i.e. "Artist's Proof". This is a special proof copy outside the main edition, made for the artist's personal use and highly sought after by collectors.
• Signature: Hand-signed in pencil lower right "Appel"
• Inscriptions: "épreuve d'artiste" in pencil lower left
• Publisher: Editions Empreinte, with publisher's dry stamp visible lower left
• Period: Circa 1960s/1970s, typical of Appel's graphic production
Dimensions:
• Framed: approx. 50 x 66 cm / 19.7 x 26 in, as shown in the photos with tape measure

Condition:
The work is in good overall condition considering its age. The paper shows light age-toning typical of the period, more visible on the margins. There are minor undulations to the paper and slight foxing spots visible in the photos. The frame shows normal signs of wear. About the Artist:
Karel Appel was one of the most important exponents of European Abstract Expressionism and a founding member of the CoBrA group in 1948. His works are held in major museums worldwide, including the MoMA in New York, Tate Gallery in London, and Centre Pompidou in Paris.
