卖家的描述
Signed ACME Studio, this brooch offers a three-dimensional interpretation of the famous “Argyle Chair” designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1897 for the Argyle Street tea rooms in Glasgow, at the request of Kate Cranston, in collaboration with designer George Walton.
Made in silvered metal, the piece reproduces the model’s elongated vertical structure and the oval backrest characteristic of the original. The unusual height of the backrest had a precise function: to create a visual separation around the tables, bringing privacy and structure to the space. This principle fully fits the aesthetics of the Glasgow Style and the Art Nouveau movement.
This model was also used in Mackintosh’s personal interior in Glasgow, designed with Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh around 1900.
Produced in 1996 for the Museum of Modern Art, this brooch is part of ACME Studio’s officially licensed editions, known for their collaborations with major cultural institutions.
Details:
– Brand: ACME Studio
– Model: “Argyle Chair” after Mackintosh
– Year: 1996
– Material: silvered metal
– Dimensions: approx. 5 cm height × 1.9 cm width/depth
– Clasp: pin with safety mechanism
– Condition: very good vintage condition
The “Argyle Chair” remains one of Mackintosh’s most iconic designs and appears in several works of visual culture, including Blade Runner, The Addams Family, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Babylon 5 and Doctor Who.
A collectible object at the crossroads of design, architecture and jewelry.
