卖家的描述

Pinarello Road Bicycle, circa 1974–1975 – Columbus Steel – Campagnolo – Freiburg Provenance

Offered for auction is a beautifully preserved Italian racing bicycle from the golden era of steel frame construction, built by Pinarello in approximately 1974–1975.

The bicycle features a high-quality lugged Columbus steel frame with numerous period details, including a fully chromed fork, partially chromed rear triangle, original Columbus decals, and matching frame and fork serial numbers. The frame retains its original paintwork with honest signs of age and use, reflecting decades of careful ownership rather than restoration.

The bicycle is equipped with period Campagnolo components, including a Campagnolo Nuovo Record rear derailleur, Campagnolo front derailleur and shifters, complemented by Gipiemme brakes, crankset, and hubs, and Mavic rims. The drivetrain is configured as a classic 2x6-speed setup.

A particularly interesting feature of this bicycle is its documented connection to the Freiburg cycling scene. The frame carries “Sütterlin” decals, whose origin was confirmed directly by Manfred Sütterlin, former owner of the long-standing Pinarello dealership in Freiburg and son of Fritz Sütterlin. According to his correspondence, the decals were designed by him in the late 1970s, and the bicycle most likely passed through the Sütterlin shop during this period. While no direct link to a specific rider or racing team can be established, this provides a rare and authentic piece of regional cycling history.

Condition:

* Original paint with age-related patina
* No dents or structural damage observed
* Chrome in very good condition
* Matching frame and fork serial numbers
* Mechanically functional and rideable

Frame measurements:

* Seat tube: 55 cm (center to top)
* Top tube: 54 cm (center to center)

Suitable for riders approximately 170–178 cm tall, depending on proportions and riding preferences.

This is not a restored showpiece, but an authentic and well-preserved example of a mid-1970s Italian racing bicycle, combining craftsmanship, originality, and documented provenance from one of Germany’s historic cycling regions.
