卖家的描述
This lot features a Japanese woodblock print depicting the famous Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro II.
The print bears the inscription “Torii Kiyonaga hitsu” (鳥居清長筆) and is based on a design attributed to Torii Kiyonaga, one of the leading Ukiyo-e artists associated with actor prints and bijin-ga during the Edo period.
The composition portrays the actor holding theatrical documents beneath a large lantern decorated with a traditional crest. The work is executed in the traditional Japanese woodblock printing technique and displays characteristic features of Kabuki-related Ukiyo-e.
Based on the printing style, paper, and overall appearance, the print is believed to be a Taisho-period (1912–1926) impression or reproduction after an earlier Edo-period design rather than an early Edo-period original impression.
Approximate dimensions:
* Height: approx. 39 cm
* Width: approx. 26 cm
Condition:
* Age-related toning and discoloration
* Minor handling wear
* Light edge and corner wear
* Small creases and surface marks consistent with age
* Reverse side shows visible image transfer and publisher marks
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
The attribution, age, and authenticity should be assessed by prospective bidders based on the photographs provided.
