Title
Japanese Samurai Yoroi (Gusoku) - Complete Iron Armor with Gosan no Kiri Family Crest, Suji Kabuto and Menpo - With Yoroi Bitsu and Display Stand
Description
This is an impressive and complete suit of traditional Japanese Samurai Yoroi (Gusoku) featuring an iron suji kabuto (ridged helmet), black lacquered armor plates, and beautifully laced kozane construction. The armor bears the Gosan no Kiri (Five-Seven Paulownia) family crest, one of the most famous and prestigious heraldic emblems in Japanese history.
The armor is accompanied by its yoroi bitsu (armor storage chest) and a display stand.
The kabuto is fitted with a striking pair of kuwagata, while the black lacquered menpo (face mask) retains its original moustache. The dō (cuirass), Sleeves (Kote), Shoulder Guards (Sode), haidate, and suneate form a harmonious and visually impressive complete set.
This armor follows the style of Tōsei Gusoku, which became widespread from the late Sengoku period through the Edo period. Its practical iron construction combined with elegant craftsmanship reflects the rich tradition of Japanese samurai culture.
The armor shows natural signs of age, including wear to the lacquer, oxidation of the metal surfaces, aging of the silk lacing and textile components, as well as minor restorations and possible later replacements. Such characteristics are common in historical Japanese armor and contribute to its authenticity and historical charm.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are an essential part of the description.
