ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jakob Bill (born 1942) is a Swiss painter, art historian, and archaeologist best known for his contributions to the Concrete Art movement. Born in Zurich, he is the son of renowned artists Max Bill and Binia Bill. Educated in archaeology and art history at the University of Zurich, he developed a distinctive artistic language based on geometry, structure, and color, while remaining faithful to the principles of Concrete Art.
Bill’s paintings and prints are characterized by precise compositions, vibrant color relationships, and a refined balance between rational order and visual harmony. Over more than five decades, he has exhibited internationally and has become one of the leading representatives of contemporary geometric abstraction. His major achievements include numerous exhibitions across Europe, awards from Swiss art institutions, and his role as president of the Max, Binia and Jakob Bill Foundation, helping preserve and promote the legacy of Concrete Art
