RARE CHINESE EXPORT PORCELAIN QIANLONG BLUE & WHITE OCTAGONAL PLATTER, CIRCA 1750
Offered here is a rare Chinese export porcelain platter from the illustrious Qianlong reign, the golden age of porcelain artistry.
Hand-painted in brilliant underglaze blue, the platter features a serene and poetic landscape: two graceful deer rest in a timeless garden of pines, rocky cliffs, and sacred lingzhi mushrooms, with a tranquil waterside pavilion in the distance.
In Chinese symbolism, these motifs represent longevity, wisdom, prosperity, and immortality, making this piece a powerful talisman of good fortune, as beautiful as it is meaningful.
- Deer (鹿, lu) symbolize longevity, prosperity and official success.
The deer is traditionally believed to be the only animal capable of finding the sacred lingzhi fungus.
- Lingzhi is the legendary "fungus of immortality".
- The pine tree symbolizes endurance, longevity and steadfastness.
Together, these elements form a visual rebus expressing wishes for a long and prosperous life.
The scalloped rim is adorned with an exquisite floral openwork border, showcasing the extraordinary skill of 18th-century craftsmen.
Qianlong period (1736–1795), circa 1750.
Length: 27,4 cm
Impeccable condition. Preserved beautifully for nearly 300 years.
Flawless. No chips, cracks, or restorations.
