Rare Art Nouveau Iridescent Glass Vase - "Crackle Violet" - Josef Rindskopf’s Söhne, Bohemia, c. 1900 - 1905
This exceptional Art Nouveau baluster vase is a prime example of Bohemian art glass from the Jugendstil era, crafted by the renowned manufacture Josef Rindskopf’s Söhne (1891-1927) in Teplitz. It features the highly collectible Crackle Violet decor, a technical masterpiece of the period.
The vase is made of deep amethyst glass that reveals rich wine-red undertones under direct light. Its organic, deeply textured surface was achieved through controlled thermal shock, creating a striking molten-lava effect with dynamic vertical ridges that beautifully follow the elegant silhouette.
A spectacular metallic iridescence coats the exterior, shifting dramatically from deep aubergine to vivid emerald green, turquoise, and subtle gold tones depending on the light angle. The flared rim perfectly showcases the twisted internal glass strands. The base features the characteristic seamless crackle texture across the entire bottom without a rough pontil mark, a definitive signature of Rindskopf’s production.
Condition is excellent vintage. No chips and cracks, no restorations. Tiny and insignificant traces of time and use - mostly fine sliding traces. Very small imperfection on the coat of bottom ring down under - production related.
Approximate dimensions: Height: ca. 22 cm. Width bottom: ca. 9 cm. Diameter max: ca. 10 cm. Weight: 978 g.
