Exclusive 100% Organic Combed Cotton fabric, Oeko-tex Standard certified, very soft to the touch, medium weight of 230 g/m².
A quality like no other.
The “Combed” finish gives this fabric a velvety softness to the touch.
A guarantee for this premium William Morris fabric. Try it to believe it!
This cotton fabric features a rich botanical pattern inspired by the historic Chrysanthemum pattern by William Morris. The design is dominated by large chrysanthemums, full and layered, with soft slightly curved petals that create a voluminous and ornamental effect. The leaves, wide and veined, are rendered with fine lines reminiscent of 19th-century botanical illustrations.
This fabric has a sophisticated palette, with powdery and subdued colors. The predominant tones are:
- Midnight blue / bluish charcoal as background, providing depth and contrast.
- Powder blue and grayish light blue for the large rounded flowers.
- Light lavender and periwinkle for the main larger flowers.
- Cream yellow and warm ivory for the leaves and secondary flowers, brightening the composition.
- Sage green and pale olive for the tendrils and leaves.
- Pearl gray and very light beige for the thin branches and background details.
Dark gray and soft black outlines, which confer a cut and typical Arts & Crafts drawing appearance.
The effect recalls William Morris’s palettes, with a romantic, timeless atmosphere. It is a color range that pairs well with classic interiors, shabby chic, English cottage, and contemporary spaces with neutral tones.
The pattern layout is typically Arts & Crafts: no rigidity, but an organic, flowing rhythm that makes the fabric alive, natural and sophisticated. The palette, earthy and harmonious, recalls Morris’s historic prints, reinterpreted with a modern, brighter touch.
William Morris (Walthamstow, 24 March 1834 – London, 3 October 1896) was a British artist and writer.
Morris was among the leading founders of the Arts and Crafts movement; he is considered a pioneer of modern designers and had a notable influence on architecture and architects of his time.
Many regard him as the father of the Modern Movement, although he was not an architect himself. He founded a design studio in collaboration with the artist Edward Burne-Jones and the poet/artist Dante Gabriel Rossetti, who profoundly influenced church and home decoration in the twentieth century.
He also made an important contribution to the revival of traditional textile arts and their production methods.
