This elegant bronze vase from Takaoka, Japan's foremost center of traditional copperware craft, captures the eye with its deep forest green surface marked by swirling grey-green marble patterning. The silhouette is a classic tsurukubi (crane-neck) form: a full, rounded body rising into a long, slender neck that opens at the mouth with quiet restraint. This vase is an unsigned work in the Takaoka Douki (高岡銅器) tradition, produced in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture — the center of Japanese cast bronze craft since the early Edo period (17th century). Takaoka copperware currently accounts for more than 90% of all cast metalwork produced in Japan, and unsigned presentation pieces of this quality are standard within the tradition, crafted by skilled artisans working within established workshops.
