Kanazawa Gold Leaf(金沢金箔)Yamanaka Lacquer Ware Three-Tier Jubako Box(三段重箱) with Sakura & Maple Maki-e – Traditional Japanese Bento Box (No Reserve Price)
◎ This item will be shipped from Japan.
This is a beautiful three-tier Jubako (traditional Japanese stacking bento box) crafted in Yamanaka lacquer ware, a traditional craft from Ishikawa Prefecture. It is decorated with Kanazawa gold leaf and elegant Maki-e depicting cherry blossoms and maple leaves.
The lid was finished by a skilled artisan who carefully applied delicate sheets of gold leaf by hand using bamboo chopsticks. The brilliant gold background, combined with the graceful Maki-e design of sakura and maple leaves, creates a refined and luxurious appearance. The lid bears the signature "Seisetsu (清雪)", which is believed to be the name of the artist who designed the Maki-e decoration.
【About Kanazawa Gold Leaf】
Kanazawa gold leaf is one of Japan's finest traditional crafts, dating back over 400 years to the Azuchi–Momoyama Period. Skilled artisans hammer pure gold into extraordinarily thin sheets using techniques that have been perfected over centuries.
Gold leaf is incredibly delicate, measuring only about 0.0001–0.0002 mm thick. Approximately 2 grams of gold can be hammered into a sheet large enough to cover the area of one traditional Japanese tatami mat. Producing gold leaf of such remarkable thinness requires exceptional craftsmanship and precision.
Today, over 98% of Japan's gold leaf is produced in Kanazawa. Kanazawa gold leaf is used not only on lacquerware but also on ceramics and many other traditional crafts, as well as on historically important landmarks such as Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion) and Nikkō Tōshō-gū Shrine.
