01. ACCA XF, 五代-后周世宗, 周元通宝小平, 背右月
周元通宝是五代十国货币，始铸于周世宗显德二年（西元955年）。「元」字长横左挑，与开元通宝相比较扁，「宝」字稍小。 钱文为隶书及篆书之分。铸工不精，钱文也大都夷漫不清，但周元通宝钱文非常工整，端正，故在五代钱币中，周元通宝的钱文首屈一指。，当时铜材紧缺，为安抚百姓，世宗于登基之初下令毁佛，但遭到佛教徒和满朝大臣的反对，可周世宗搬出「舍身喂虎」的典故，他说佛是造福众生的，若他活着，为了救人，他的真身都可毁去，又为何舍不得铜像呢？ 故毁佛寺3336所，将佛寺中的铜像神话，铸造成“周元通宝”。因此周元通宝在中国钱币历史和宗教发展史上都产生重大影响。
此枚算是罕见漂亮的钱币，而且五代十国政权繁杂，各地的钱币多元但数量稀少且品相不佳，因此这枚是极为难得的美品，喜欢的藏家不要错过。
01. ACCA XF, Five Dynasties - Later Zhou Shizong, Zhou Yuan Tong Bao Xiaoping, Reverse Right Moon
Zhou Yuan Tong Bao is a currency from the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, first minted in the second year of Xiande during Later Zhou Shizong's reign (955 AD). The character “Yuan” has a long horizontal stroke with a leftward hook and is flatter compared to Kaiyuan Tong Bao, while the character “Bao” is slightly smaller. The inscriptions are in clerical and seal script. The craftsmanship was generally not precise, and most coin inscriptions were rough and unclear, but the Zhou Yuan Tong Bao is very neatly and properly engraved, making it the finest in terms of inscriptions among Five Dynasties coins. At that time, copper was in short supply. To appease the people, Shizong ordered the destruction of Buddhist items early in his reign, but faced opposition from Buddhists and officials. He referenced the story of “offering oneself to feed a tiger,” saying that Buddhists do good for people, and if it helps save lives, destroying his own body is justified, so why hesitate to melt the copper statues? As a result, 3,336 Buddhist temples were dismantled, and the copper statues were melted down to mint Zhou Yuan Tong Bao coins. Hence, Zhou Yuan Tong Bao had a significant impact on Chinese numismatic history and religious development.
This coin is considered a rare and beautiful piece. During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, political regimes were complex, and coins varied by region but were usually scarce and in poor condition. Therefore, this coin is an extremely rare and high-quality example that collectors shouldn’t miss.
