It is a large character version, with the character 'thousand' engraved on the reverse. The Kan'ei Tsuho coin has a complex design, being a unified currency minted by Japan to counter foreign currencies, and its history is fraught with many twists and turns. This coin, despite its age, is exceptionally well-preserved, representing a rare version and mother coin.
