This vintage Nambu Tekki cast iron round lantern 灯篭(Marugata Tōrō) was produced by Iwachu, one of the most respected manufacturers of traditional Nambu ironware in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
According to the owner, this piece was presented as a commemorative gift in 1972 (Showa 47). It features a classic lantern-inspired design with an openwork lid and body that allow light or incense fragrance to gently escape. The heavy cast iron construction and finely textured surface reflect the traditional craftsmanship for which Nambu Tekki is renowned.
It can be appreciated both as a decorative interior object and as an incense burner. The original signed wooden storage box is included.
