卖家的描述
John Davis & Son – Davis-Kirkby Miner's Flame Safety Lamp – England – c.1905–1925
An uncommon early 20th-century Davis-Kirkby miner's flame safety lamp by the renowned John Davis & Son. Unlike the more frequently encountered Davis Derby models, this example retains its original DAVIS / KIRKBY marked burner, individually numbered burner assembly, and an uncommon original locking mechanism, making it a particularly interesting and desirable variant for collectors of mining memorabilia.
Constructed in brass and steel with its original glass and carrying handle, the lamp displays an attractive untouched working patina acquired through decades of use. The original locking system remains intact, reflecting the strict safety regulations of the period when lamps could only be opened by authorised lamp-room personnel using the appropriate release mechanism.
A scarce and highly collectable example of British mining history, offering greater interest than the standard Davis Derby safety lamps more commonly encountered on the market. An excellent addition to any collection of mining artefacts, industrial heritage or early safety equipment.
Condition: Good original antique condition with age-related wear, oxidation and surface corrosion consistent with its working life. The lamp remains remarkably complete, retaining its original burner, locking mechanism and glass. A fine, honest example that has not been over-restored.
