【 Product details 】
A refined Kutani porcelain vase by Masahiko Tokuda (徳田正彦), who later succeeded to the name Tokuda Yasokichi III and was designated a Living National Treasure in 1997.
Kutani ware is one of Japan’s best-known porcelain traditions, originating in present-day Ishikawa Prefecture and celebrated for its rich colours and distinctive decorative techniques.
Created before his succession in 1988, this compact vase displays Tokuda’s distinctive Saiyu glaze. Flowing bands of deep purple-black, blue, turquoise, white and yellow descend from the neck across the rounded body, creating a vivid and dynamic colour composition.
The base bears the artist’s signature. It comes with its original signed wooden box, although the cord used to secure the box is missing.
Good vintage condition with minor surface blemishes. The wooden box has signs of age, and its securing cord is missing. Please refer to the photos for details.
