Elegant French Crystal Dish with Solid Silver Rim – 1st Grade (950) – Late 19th Century

A refined and decorative crystal serving dish of French origin, featuring a beautifully hand-worked satin-finished (sablé) decoration and a solid silver rim of the highest standard.

The dish is crafted in clear crystal with delicate acid-etched garlands, ribbons, and floral motifs, surrounding a finely stylized central rosette. The design reflects the elegant Biedermeier / early Louis XVI revival taste, characterized by symmetry, lightness, and refined ornamentation.

The silver mount is hallmarked with the French head (1st standard, 950/1000 silver), confirming high-quality workmanship. A silversmith’s mark “R B” (within a lozenge) is present, though not yet attributed with certainty.

The rim is further enhanced with a classic beaded (pearl) border, adding depth and contrast to the soft satin crystal surface.

Condition:
In good antique condition. The crystal remains clear and well-preserved. Minor signs of age and use are present. On the underside of the rim, there are traces indicating a former applied edge or finish, which has since worn or been removed – not visible during normal display.
