History / Description
[NO RESERVE PRICE]
A beautifully balanced Japanese suiseki-style viewing stone presented in the iconic form of Mount Fuji.
This compact stone features a broad, gently sloping silhouette with a well-defined summit, creating an elegant miniature landscape. The dark stone is naturally accented by numerous pale mineral inclusions that evoke the image of fresh snow covering the mountain, giving the piece a refined and highly decorative presence.
The stone is described as Yojuro-ishi (与十郎石), a name associated with Japanese viewing stones appreciated for their dark tones, expressive mineral patterns, and mountain-like forms. Combined with its carefully fitted wooden daiza, the composition displays beautifully from every angle.
Suitable for display in a tokonoma, bonsai arrangement, tea room, study, or Japanese-inspired interior, it is an appealing piece for collectors who appreciate traditional Japanese aesthetics, miniature landscapes, and wabi-sabi design.
Collector Appeal
The graceful proportions and snow-like mineral pattern create a strong visual impression reminiscent of Mount Fuji in winter.
Its compact size makes it easy to display while retaining the quiet elegance valued in traditional Japanese viewing stones.
An attractive addition to collections of suiseki, bonsai display objects, scholar's stones, Zen-inspired interiors, and Japanese decorative art.
Condition
The stone shows natural irregularities, mineral inclusions, light surface marks, and signs of previous display consistent with age and handling.
The surface has a smooth appearance with an attractive natural sheen. As is common with many traditional viewing stones, it may have been lightly prepared for display over time.
The fitted wooden daiza is stable and well matched to the stone, showing only minor signs of age and previous use.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
