卖家的描述
物品描述:
This is a rare and artistic creative kokeshi (Sosaku Kokeshi) titled "森歓 (Shinkan / Joy of Forest)" by the celebrated master Okamoto Usaburo I. Unlike traditional kokeshi that rely heavily on painted decorations, this piece focuses on the natural beauty of the wood grain to express its form and character. The body features a distinctive carved texture that highlights the swirling patterns of the wood, evocative of the deep energy within a forest. The golden cord tied around the waist serves as a belt, reminiscent of ancient Japanese attire, adding a touch of historical elegance. The head is finished with a deep, dark polish that contrasts beautifully with the warm tones of the face and body. The artist's seal and a commemorative sticker from the All Japan Kokeshi Competition are present on the bottom.
Artist:
Okamoto Usaburo I (1917–2009) was the visionary founder of the Usaburo Kokeshi studio, which is today the most famous creative kokeshi workshop in Japan. Starting kokeshi production in 1950, he revolutionized the craft by introducing techniques such as carving and "yaki-e" (wood-burning), moving beyond simple brush painting to create three-dimensional masterpieces. His excellence was recognized with the prestigious Minister of International Trade and Industry Award. Notably, his work "Kantsubaki" (Winter Camellia) was honored by being purchased by Emperor Showa. His legacy continues to define the modern aesthetic of Sosaku Kokeshi worldwide.
