卖家的描述
Atmospheric landscape – oil on panel – Émile Boulard (1861–1943), France, 19th century
This work, executed in oil on a solid wooden panel, is by the French artist Émile Boulard, son and pupil of the renowned Barbizon painter Auguste Boulard.
The painting shows an atmospheric, golden evening landscape in which a rider on a sandy path heads toward an idyllic village. In the background, the spire of a building or church tower is subtly visible against a soft, sun-drenched sky. With a powerful, impasto brushstroke and a warm palette of ochre, deep brown and subtle green tones, Boulard has masterfully captured the serene light of the 'golden hour'. The influence of the Barbizon school and early impressionism is beautifully evident in this work.
The panel (unframed) is in good, authentic condition; the paint layers are stable and the colors have retained their warm intensity, but a simple light refreshment and frame would be desirable to restore the artwork to its full effect.
In any case, a beautiful late-impressionist scene from the French landscape school, correctly signed in the lower right corner “Boulard”.
