A Goryeo-style celadon vase by Yoo Chang-gon (art name "Haeil," 海日), founder of the Suchang kiln (水昌窯), decorated with the classic Goryeo motif of clouds and cranes (雲鶴文) rendered in black-and-white slip inlay (象嵌) beneath a soft, jade-green celadon glaze.

The vase has a tall, flaring trumpet neck rising from a rounded body, with a pair of loop handles modeled as small squirrels gripping the shoulder of the vessel — a charming and unusual sculptural touch rarely seen on celadon of this type.

The lower body is decorated with dense, all-over pierced openwork (透かし彫り) in a honeycomb-like lattice pattern, a technically demanding decorative technique that showcases the kiln's skill.

The crackled celadon glaze (貫入) covers the piece in a fine, all-over network of fine lines, adding to its quiet, aged visual character.
The underside bears the inscribed mark "海日" (Haeil), the artist's go (art name).
This piece comes with its original wooden tomobako storage box, inscribed "水昌窯 海日 柳昌坤作" (Suchang kiln, made by Yoo Chang-gon, art name Haeil), and an accompanying printed booklet titled "韓國の美 高麗青磁" (The Beauty of Korea: Goryeo Celadon), which includes the artist's biography and a documented exhibition history spanning department stores and galleries in Japan and Korea from 1968 to 1983.

As the booklet explains, this piece is a modern recreation of the historic Goryeo celadon tradition (Goryeo dynasty, 918–1392) — it is presented as a documented work by a named 20th-century artist working within this revival tradition, not as an antique piece from the Goryeo dynasty itself.

Yoo Chang-gon, working under the art name Haeil, is the founder of the Suchang kiln (水昌窯) in Korea, and per the accompanying documentation devoted over thirty years to what the booklet describes as his life's ambition: reviving Goryeo celadon (高麗青磁) as a source of national pride and cultural heritage.
His work is described as recapturing the "secret color" (秘色) and quiet, refined beauty of historic Goryeo celadon, incorporating the classic inlay (象嵌) technique associated with the tradition at its height.
According to the exhibition record included with this piece, his work was shown at numerous major venues across Japan and Korea between 1968 and 1983, including department store exhibitions in Tokyo (Mitaka, Suginami), Osaka (Shinsekai), Mito, Okayama, and Shibuya, as well as galleries and shopping centers in Daegu, Busan, Gwangju, and Hanyang (Seoul), reflecting a well-established, actively exhibiting career across both countries.
