Vintage brass instrument — a B♭ Alto Horn manufactured in 1970 at the Orffey factory in Kyiv, USSR. During the 1960s and 1970s, Kyiv’s brass instrument production was known for supplying state orchestras, military bands, conservatories, and professional ensembles throughout the Soviet Union, built with solid brass construction, durability, sound projection, and a classic 3-rotary-valve system.

Regarding its technical specifications and physical parameters, this model features a brass body, bell, and leadpipe material, a nickel-plated valve material, a total weight of 1600 g, length of 57 cm, width of 28 cm, and a bell diameter (height) of 20 cm. This is a serious, intermediate-level orchestral musical instrument rather than a lightweight student model, reflecting the robust mechanics, thick brass walls, and reliable engineering traditions of Eastern European craftsmanship from the Cold War era.

Mechanics & The Need for Tuning
The 3 rotary valves are movable and not stuck, as can be clearly seen in the photos and video. However, as with any brass instrument that has been stored for a long time, professional servicing is necessary to ensure optimal performance. We recommend performing routine adjustment, lubrication, and tuning work before active use.

Cosmetic Condition & Restoration
The instrument has been manually and mechanically processed by us, restoring its original shine and removing oxides while preserving its original patina and signs of age consistent with a 1970 manufacture date. Please carefully review all photographs.
The alto has a group of small and minor dents that functionally do not affect the performance of the musical instrument. In a normal civilized country, these flaws are easily and simply rolled out, straightened, and repolished in specialized workshops using special tools. Unfortunately, there is a war going on in our country, and we have nowhere and no one here to eliminate these defects. If desired, a new buyer can easily have this corrected in a specialized workshop.

Return Policy — AS IS

In rare cases where a return is required under platform rules, the buyer is fully and exclusively responsible for all return packaging and shipping costs, all transportation risks, all customs duties, VAT, and import fees (both ways), and any additional carrier or storage charges.

A refund (if applicable) is issued only after the instrument is received back, inspected, and officially commissioned and certified by postal employees upon receipt, confirming that it is in the exact original condition as before shipping. Any interference with the design and condition of the instrument without prior written agreement with the seller — including any treatment with chemical compounds or special products, complete or partial disassembly, replacement of spare parts and components, any attempts at adjustment work, straightening, dent removal, soldering, or other mechanical impacts — shall be unconditionally recognized as unauthorized intervention in the original condition of the instrument and a violation of its integrity. Upon identification of such facts, the return case opened by the buyer shall be subject to immediate closure without payment of any compensation for the cost of the musical instrument and reimbursement of return shipping expenses.
