An elegant Kutani ware flower vase by renowned Japanese ceramic artist Takashi Kitamura (北村 隆, born 1946), accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako) and the original artist's biography leaflet.

This work is identified in the original leaflet as "Ash-Glazed Kinsai Flower Vase" (灰釉金彩 花瓶). The beautifully textured ash glaze provides a soft, natural surface that contrasts harmoniously with the bold gold decoration, creating a refined balance between traditional Kutani craftsmanship and contemporary artistic design.

Takashi Kitamura was born in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, one of Japan's most celebrated ceramic regions. He studied under Asakura Isokichi V, a distinguished member of the Japan Art Academy. Since his first selection for the Nitten Exhibition in 1973, his works have been accepted numerous times at major Japanese ceramic exhibitions, including the Japan Contemporary Arts and Crafts Exhibition, Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition, and the China International Ceramic Art Exhibition. He is also a member of the Japan Association of Contemporary Arts and Crafts Artists.

The original signed wooden box and biography leaflet further enhance the authenticity and collectability of this beautiful work.

Condition

The vase is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs observed.

The original wooden storage box and artist's leaflet are included. The box shows light signs of age and storage wear consistent with its age.

As each piece was individually handcrafted in Japan, slight variations in glaze, firing effects, texture, gold decoration, and surface appearance are natural characteristics of traditional Japanese studio pottery and should be appreciated as part of the uniqueness of the work rather than regarded as defects.
