An exceptional, highly collectible Soviet desktop fountain pen set designed to resemble a space rocket. This historic Cold War memorabilia item was manufactured by the famous "Soyuz" factory in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) to commemorate the historic Soviet space mission of Luna 2. Launched on September 12, 1959, Luna 2 became the very first human made object to successfully reach the surface of the Moon.
Design & Features:
Commemorative Plaque: The base is adorned with a beautiful gold tone pentagonal plaque, meticulously replicating the pentagonal pennants (vympels) that Luna-2 carried to drop on the lunar surface. It features a sharp, clear Cyrillic engraving with the Soviet star, hammer, and sickle: "СССР СЕНТЯБРЬ 1959" (USSR September 1959).
Base & Mechanism: The heavy, high gloss black Bakelite base features a fully adjustable brass ball and socket joint supporting the rocket shaped pen sleeve. The aerodynamic fountain pen forms the upper part of the rocket body when docked.
Factory Stamp: The bottom of the base retains its original blue protective felt layer, featuring a remarkably well preserved gold stamp with the official factory logo and text:
"Завод СОЮЗ Ленинград" (Soyuz Factory Leningrad).

The high-gloss black High-grade commemorative resin housing is exceptionally well preserved with only minor, authentic surface micro scratches from age, completely free of cracks or chips. The commemorative gold plaque is in pristine condition with sharp engraving. The brass ball joint retains its original authentic patina and holds its position properly. Crucially, the internal screw driven piston filling mechanism has been completely disassembled for inspection all internal components (including the threaded rod and green sleeves) are 100% fully functional without any stripped threads or ink leaks.
