卖家的描述
Icon 20th century, approx. 26.6×31.9×2.8 cm, wooden panel.
The Mother of God "Eleusa" (Greek: Eleusa, meaning "Merciful" or "Tenderness") is one of the most revered iconographic types of the Virgin Mary in Orthodox Christianity. The Christ Child affectionately presses His cheek against that of His Mother, while the Virgin gently inclines her head toward Him. This intimate gesture expresses maternal love, divine compassion, and the profound bond between Mother and Son, while also foreshadowing Christ's future Passion and sacrifice. The icon reveals both the mystery of the Incarnation and God's saving love for humanity. Widely developed in Byzantine and later Russian art from the twelfth century onward, the Eleusa became a timeless symbol of mercy, tenderness, and the intercession of the Theotokos for all humankind.
The icon is in very good condition.
