ARAK Rare Two-Pusher Stop-Seconds Watch – Swiss Made – ca. 1950s – Unusual Multi-Scale Dial – Manual Wind XL size (40mm + crowns)

Offered is a fascinating and highly unusual ARAK Swiss Made wristwatch from approximately the 1940s, representing an uncommon chapter in Swiss watchmaking history.

At first glance the watch resembles a traditional two-pusher chronograph, yet it features a much rarer and historically significant mechanism. Rather than a conventional chronograph with start, stop and reset functions, this watch employs an independent central stop-seconds system. The upper pusher starts the central seconds hand while the lower pusher stops it. Unlike a standard chronograph, the hand does not reset to zero, making it an intriguing transitional design that predates or simplifies the classic chronograph concept. These early "stop" watches are today appreciated by collectors for their technical originality and historical importance.

The beautifully aged original dial features an attractive multi-scale scientific layout with spiral red calibrations, large Arabic numerals and elegant blued steel hands, giving the watch a distinctive instrument-like appearance typical of the era.

Inside beats a Swiss manual-winding movement, visible through the photographs. The movement appears clean and complete, preserving its original construction and unusual stop-seconds mechanism.
