卖家的描述
Elegant pedestal plate from the iconic “Hambourg” model, created by Cristalleries du Val Saint-Lambert and reproduced in the prestigious 1913 catalog. With its meticulously geometric décor and balanced silhouette, this piece perfectly illustrates the transition from the Belle Époque refinement to the early signs of Art Déco aesthetics. It stands as one of the most emblematic moulded glass models produced by the Belgian manufactory at the beginning of the 20th century.
Made in transparent mould-pressed glass, this plate rests on a fluted conical stem that flares to a circular base. Its large circular top is entirely adorned with a concentric pattern of small pyramidal reliefs forming a particularly fine grid, creating a remarkable play of light. The edge is outlined by an elegant serrated contour that adds lightness and refinement to the whole, while the central part is animated by radiating flutes enhancing the depth effect. The piece still bears its original moulded signature “VAL ST LAMBERT BELGIQUE”, attesting to its authenticity.
The piece is in excellent condition. The glass retains all its original brilliance and transparency. Only a few light cutlery marks on the top of the plate are visible, consistent with careful use, as well as a few brownish stains localized under the base, without affecting the presentation of the piece when displayed. No chips, cracks, or restorations are to be reported.
Present in the famous 1913 catalog, the model “Hambourg” is among the most emblematic creations of Cristalleries du Val Saint-Lambert before World War I. Its extremely delicate décor, achieved by press-moulding, testifies to the factory’s technical mastery and its desire to offer a decorative glass that combines ornamental richness with functionality. Always highly valued for its timeless elegance, this model remains one of the classic pieces of Val Saint-Lambert’s historical production.
Dimensions:
- Height: 13.2 centimeters
