This piece is presented for auction by Second Vintage

This highly sought-after execution of the Omega Constellation pairs the celebrated tonneau case geometry with a crisp fluted bezel and an integrated brick-link bracelet. Featuring a pristine vertically brushed silver dial and powered by the chronometer-certified Caliber 751 day-date movement, this 1970 example offers a beautiful factory finish and a highly attractive presence on the wrist.

Brand: Omega
Model: Constellation
Reference Number: 168.045-368.845
Serial Number: 31933047
Movement: Caliber 751 Automatic Chronometer Day-Date
Dial: Vertically brushed silver with applied faceted indices and day-date window
Case Size: 34 mm (excluding the crown)
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Production Year: 1970
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Timegrapher: +6+8s/day, performing remarkably well.

Dial and Hands
The silver dial is pristine and highly legible, defined by a distinct vertical brushed finish that catches the light beautifully. It features applied faceted indices with black inserts, perfectly complemented by the applied Omega logo and the signature Constellation star. A framed day-date window displaying English text is positioned at three o'clock. The surface is exceptionally clean, showing no visible spotting, staining, or moisture damage, while the original T SWISS MADE T printing remains intact at the bottom edge. The baton-style hands feature matching black inserts and are in excellent original condition, matching the dial perfectly. The luminous material is present on the hands, displaying consistent mild aging, while the metal surfaces remain clean with minimal oxidation.

Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case features a distinct tonneau or C-shape profile with brushed upper surfaces and polished flanks. The edges remain well-defined, showing normal light handling marks and superficial scratches consistent with careful use, with no major dents or deep gouges visible. A crisp fluted bezel adds an elegant texture to the watch face, displaying only minor signs of wear. The properly proportioned crown is signed with a clear Omega logo in relief. The watch is fitted with a domed acrylic crystal that remains clear, with no significant scratches, crazing, or cracks visible.

Movement
Inside is the chronometer-certified Omega Caliber 751, a 24-jewel automatic day-date movement adjusted to five positions and temperature. The signature Omega copper-colored plating is bright and intact, with no visible corrosion, oxidation, or moisture damage. The screw heads and plates appear clean and unmarred, reflecting a well-preserved mechanism. The timegrapher records a rate of +6+8s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.

Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed integrated brick-link style stainless steel bracelet. The brushed finish is well preserved, and the clasp features a crisp applied Omega logo. The bracelet shows normal light scuffs on the clasp and links, serving as a sturdy and highly attractive original pairing for the case. It accommodates a maximum wrist fit of 18,5cm.

Condition
Excellent vintage condition. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly. The watch presents an honest and well-preserved character throughout. The case shows normal superficial scratches and handling marks but retains its defined geometry. The dial and hands are exceptionally clean and original, free of notable degradation. The integrated bracelet exhibits light scuffs consistent with careful wear, maintaining its sturdy feel and brushed finish.

Dimensions
The case measures 34 mm in diameter (excluding the crown).

Remarks
This Constellation stands out for its fantastic original condition and collector-favourite configuration. The combination of the fluted bezel, the incredibly clean vertically brushed dial, and the original integrated brick-link bracelet makes this a highly desirable example of 1970s Omega design.

History
Introduced in 1952, the Constellation line served as the flagship chronometer collection for Omega, representing the pinnacle of their precision manufacturing. In the late 1960s, the collection evolved to include the C-shape case, a design famously associated with Gerald Genta that modernized the aesthetic while maintaining the elegant identity of the line. The introduction of the Caliber 751 brought a highly practical day-date complication to the Constellation family, all while adhering to the strict chronometer standards that defined the model. Today, these tonneau-cased examples are celebrated by collectors for their distinctive period styling and robust mechanical capability.
