Model History:
Introduced in 1969, the Seiko 5 Actus line was developed primarily for the Japanese domestic market and aimed at a younger, style-conscious audience. The collection combined the practical features of the Seiko 5 concept with bolder, more contemporary case and dial designs that reflected the transition from the 1960s into the 1970s.

Produced in September 1969, this early Actus SS reference 6106-8450 features a substantial cushion-shaped stainless steel case, a recessed crown at four o’clock and a silver sunburst dial with applied hour markers. Its distinctly angular styling makes it an attractive example of Seiko’s rapidly evolving design language during this period.

The watch is powered by the 25-jewel Seiko 6106 automatic calibre. Running at 21,600 vibrations per hour, it features hacking seconds and a bilingual English/Kanji day-date display with quick-setting capability. The 6106 cannot be wound manually and is powered through the movement of the wearer’s wrist.

Condition:

The watch is in nice vintage condition, showing honest signs of age and previous use. The stainless steel case retains its characteristic cushion-shaped profile and contrasting brushed and polished surfaces. Scratches, small marks and general surface wear are visible, particularly around the bezel, case edges and case back, while the overall shape remains well defined.

The silver sunburst dial retains an attractive radial finish but displays visible age-related patina, including light spotting, fine surface marks and some discolouration, most noticeably around the outer area of the dial. The applied hour markers and printed inscriptions remain clear. The hands and hour markers show some ageing and darkening consistent with the age of the watch. The English/Kanji day and date displays remain clearly legible.
The crystal has been replaced with a new, scratch-free one, and the watch is fitted with a new black leather strap.

The Seiko 6106 automatic movement has been fully serviced and is functioning properly. A 3-month functionality guarantee is included.
