"India Contemporary curated by Veer Hooda" presents a rare opportunity for Collectors and Art lovers in Europe to acquire the original works of highly established Indian Contemporary Artists and create a connection with one of the most vibrant and fast growing art markets in the world.

The Auction is curated by internationally acclaimed Indo-European artist - Veer Hooda - in collaboration with the highly esteemed NIV Art Center, New Delhi and available exclusively on Catawiki.

About the Artist: Milton Bhattacharya

Milton Bhattacharyya is an Indian contemporary artist from Howrah, West Bengal, who received his formal training at Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan, completing his Master’s degree in Fine Arts.

Working primarily in the medium of painting, his practice is grounded in sustained research and close observation of socio-cultural environments. His work explores themes of myth, time, memory, and everyday cultural rituals, often drawing from regional histories and literary references.

Alongside his independent practice, Bhattacharyya works as a school teacher in Deoghar, a role that places him in direct and continuous dialogue with the local community. Over the past years, this engagement has shaped his artistic language, encouraging a reflective approach that connects historical narratives with present-day social realities through carefully developed visual and conceptual framework.

Bhattacharyya has participated in a number of national and international exhibitions and workshops, contributing to a growing visibility within the contemporary Indian art landscape. His exhibition practice is closely tied to context and space, frequently extending beyond conventional white-cube settings to engage with culturally significant or community-oriented venues. Through these presentations, his works aim to activate dialogue between past and present, literature and lived experience, positioning his practice at the intersection of research, place, and contemporary artistic inquiry.

About Veer Hooda :  ig : @vi_hov

Veer Hooda is an Indo-European (Austrian) contemporary artist based in Vienna, whose practice is shaped by a deep connection to his Indian roots and a great love for his now home, Europe. Veer Hooda has exhibited across some of the top galleries and exhibitions across the world and has recently finished his sold-out show in Miami Art Basel 2025, this year (2026) 2he will be exhibiting in, among other highly esteemed exhibitions, Venice Biennale 2026, ArtExpo New York 2026, multiple exhibitions across Europe and Austria and returning to Art Basel Miami at the end of the year.
