约 Creation around 1320-1330 in the northwest of France, this Apocalypse in Latin and French is one of the most beautiful works of the late Middle Ages. Its remarkably fine illuminations illustrate the text of the Apocalypse of Saint John with rich and inventive iconography. It takes its name from the Cistercian Val-Dieu Abbey in Belgium where it was kept. The original is at the British Library in London.
