The ''Trama'' ring is a prominent piece from the highly acclaimed Venusia collection, which won the prestigious Best Design Award in Italy (2022).

The Design Concept:
Derived from Venus, the goddess of beauty, the Venusia project explores the ancient, almost magical bond between human beings and bodily ornamentation. Elena Salmistraro masterfully balances the sacred and the profane, primitive references, and industrial modernity.

The Trama ring, designed by Elena Salmistraro for Alessi, forms part of the Venusia jewellery collection, a series that explores the intersection of craftsmanship, art and contemporary design. The name Trama, meaning “weave” or “texture”, is reflected in the ring’s intricate structure. Its surface is composed of a refined network of lines and openings reminiscent of woven fabric, delicate metal lacework or architectural frameworks.

With the Venusia collection, Salmistraro creates a fascinating dialogue between opposites: ancestral and industrial, figurative and abstract. The sculptural form wraps around the finger like a miniature architectural object, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. The openwork construction gives the ring a bold visual presence while maintaining a sense of elegance and lightness.

The combination of geometric patterns, sophisticated metalwork and a strong artistic identity elevates the Trama ring beyond conventional jewellery. It is a wearable design object in which Italian creativity, craftsmanship and contemporary experimentation converge. Crafted from steel with a hypoallergenic gold-coloured PVD coating, the ring combines durability with a refined and modern aesthetic.

About Elena Salmistraro:
An artist and designer, she opened her studio in Milan in 2009 with Angelo Stoli, embarking on numerous collaborations with companies in the creative industry. Attention to detail, harmony of form and poetic style characterise her projects, which seek to delve into the expressive language of objects. Her designs have been exhibited in various international exhibitions. In 2017 she received the "Salone del Mobile Milano Award" as "Best new designer" and was appointed Ambassador of Italian design in the world. In 2018 she was appointed Ambassador of the Brera Design District.
