Vintage 輪島塗Wajima-nuri Urushi Lacquer Vase with Twin Cranes, 昭和Showa Period (mid-20th century)
Shipping method: DHL Express
This elegant 輪島塗Wajima-nuri flower vase is a fine example of traditional Japanese 漆塗りUrushi lacquer craftsmanship from the 昭和Showa period (mid-20th century). The cylindrical form is finished in a deep glossy black lacquer and decorated with a graceful pair of flying cranes rendered in delicate gold 蒔絵Maki-e.
The interior is finished in a brilliant gold lacquer, creating a beautiful contrast with the polished black exterior. The composition of the two cranes conveys elegance, longevity, and harmony—classic motifs in Japanese decorative arts.
The vase is accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box and two black display boards. Wajima lacquerware, produced in Ishikawa Prefecture, is highly regarded for its durability and refined multi-layer lacquer techniques developed over several centuries.
A sophisticated decorative piece suitable for ikebana, seasonal floral arrangements, or as a standalone display object.
