Description

Second State II - Red Compression is a hand-built wooden relief composed of individually cut, shaped and painted elements arranged within a deep black shadow-box frame.

The composition is structured as a compact geometric field, yet each wooden block shifts slightly in depth, angle and direction. This creates a surface that feels both ordered and alive. Light moves across the work throughout the day, forming changing shadows that give the relief a sense of rhythm, pressure and movement.

The strong red surface brings intensity to the piece, while the white background and black frame create a clear visual contrast that keeps the composition focused and balanced. From a distance, the work appears minimal and architectural. Up close, the texture of the wood and the small variations between the blocks reveal its handmade character.

CanisterCrafts is an independent contemporary art studio based in Bucharest, Romania.

Every artwork is made by Tiberiu, combining woodworking, repetition and geometric structure with an interest in texture, shadow and emotional balance. The studio’s practice moves between sculptural relief, abstract composition and architectural object design.

The work is created by hand rather than through industrial production. Small irregularities are preserved as evidence of the process and of the natural character of the wood.
