Painted during a plein-air workshop in Kazimierz Dolny, this work captures the view across the Vistula River on a morning covered by dense fog. While exploring the town beyond its busy centre, the artist reached the riverbank, where the opposite shore almost completely disappeared behind a veil of mist.
The composition is built around this uncertainty. Trees, buildings and distant forms merge into pale silhouettes, while the fog blends with the surface of the water, making the boundary between river and air almost impossible to distinguish.
