Presented for auction by Second Vintage

This 1958 Omega presents a classic dress watch profile distinguished by a heavily patinated dial and powered by the respected manual-wind Caliber 284. The striking visual character of the dial contrasts beautifully with the stainless steel case, offering a compelling aesthetic for enthusiasts of mid-century horology.

Brand: Omega
Reference Number: 2910-9 SC
Serial Number: 16942557
Movement: Manual wind, Caliber 284, 17 jewels
Dial: Light-colored with heavy, widespread spotting and patina
Case Size: 34mm (excluding the crown)
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Production Year: 1958
Condition: Good vintage condition. Movement serviced on 13 June 2026. Timegrapher: +2+5s/day with strong amplitude, performing remarkably well.

Dial and Hands
The light-colored dial is heavily patinated with significant and widespread spotting, creating a highly individualized aged aesthetic. It features applied faceted hour markers and an applied Omega logo, with the printed Omega text remaining legible despite the heavy aging and some discoloration around the outer edges. The dauphine style hands display visible oxidation, spotting, and surface wear, which remain entirely consistent with the aged character of the dial.

Case and Crystal
The 34mm stainless steel case displays honest vintage wear, featuring a smooth, integrated style bezel. The surfaces show moderate scratches and scuffs consistent with age and use. The lugs retain their general shape but show signs of previous polishing and wear. The brushed exterior of the caseback exhibits some scratches, while the signed Omega crown shows moderate surface wear. The domed acrylic crystal presents light surface scratches and minor wear.

Movement
Inside is the manual wind Omega Caliber 284, featuring 17 jewels and copper-colored plating. The movement displays a generally clean appearance for its age, though the plating shows some minor marks and light scratches, and the screw heads exhibit some wear. Engravings of the Omega Swiss signature, jewel count, caliber, and serial number are clearly visible. The timegrapher reads +2+5s/day with strong amplitude. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The movement was serviced on 13 June 2026.

Strap
The watch is fitted with a brown leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. The strap appears to be in lightly used condition, complementing the vintage aesthetic of the timepiece.

Condition
Good vintage condition. The movement was serviced on 13 June 2026 and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly. Visually, the watch presents honest aging, highlighted by a dial with heavy, widespread spotting and patina alongside oxidized dauphine hands. The stainless steel case and smooth bezel show moderate scratches and scuffs, with signs of previous polishing on the lugs. The domed acrylic crystal has light surface scratches, and the signed crown shows moderate wear.

Dimensions
The case measures 34mm (excluding the crown).

Remarks
This Omega offers a highly distinctive visual presence through its heavily patinated dial. Supported by a recently serviced Caliber 284 movement performing remarkably well, it represents a classic and accessible vintage manual-wind model from a highly respected era of production.

History
During the 1950s, Omega produced some of the most elegant and mechanically reliable dress watches on the market. Models from this period often utilized robust manual-wind calibers like the 284, which were celebrated for their precise engineering and durable copper-colored finishing. These mid-century timepieces reflected the refined design language of the era, focusing on balanced proportions, applied indices, and elegant dauphine hands. Today, they remain highly appreciated by collectors for their classical aesthetics and dependable mechanical performance.
