Rhythm Structure: Exception is a minimalist abstract composition built around repetition, contrast and one deliberate disruption.

The painting is divided into two equal fields. The upper half forms a deep black surface, while the lower white field contains three ordered rows of vertical black marks. A single red mark interrupts the repeated sequence and becomes the visual focus of the composition.

The regular arrangement creates a sense of rhythm and stability, but the red exception changes the way the entire system is perceived. A small deviation becomes more noticeable precisely because everything around it follows a clear order. The painting explores the tension between repetition and individuality, discipline and interruption, silence and signal.

Every vertical mark is painted by hand. Subtle differences in the edges and application of paint are intentional and preserve the physical character of the work. The composition remains precise without becoming mechanical.

The restricted palette of black, white and red gives the work a strong architectural presence. Its visual language relates to geometric abstraction, modernism, constructivism and Bauhaus traditions, while retaining the tactile quality of an original hand-painted artwork.

Rhythm Structure: Exception is a special variation within Dorota Kozak’s Rhythm Structure series. The work develops the series through a reduced palette, wider spacing and a single contrasting element that breaks the established rhythm.

The painted area measures 95 × 95 cm. The artwork is created on unstretched canvas and includes additional canvas around the painted area for stretching.

The painting is signed and dated and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It will be carefully rolled and shipped in a protective tube.
