卖家的描述
Description:
This charming incense box (kōgō) is a fine example of Sanuki-bori lacquerware by Keido Ishii (1877–1944), one of the leading masters of Sanuki lacquer carving in Kagawa. The lid is beautifully sculpted with a ripe peach, leaves, and twisting branches in vivid red and deep green lacquer, symbolizing longevity, prosperity, and good fortune in Japanese tradition. The carved relief displays the refined craftsmanship for which Keido is celebrated.
The interior retains the natural concentric wood-turning pattern, enhancing the handmade character of the piece. It is accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako), further supporting its authenticity and collectible value. Keido Ishii was a central figure in the development of modern Sanuki-bori and trained later masters of Japanese lacquer art. Today, his works are preserved in major museums in Japan and are highly appreciated by collectors of traditional lacquerware. This elegant kōgō is both a functional tea ceremony object and an outstanding work of Japanese decorative art.
