Model History:

The Seikomatic Weekdater was one of Seiko’s more refined automatic collections of the mid-1960s, positioned above the company’s basic everyday models. Its distinctive layout separates the calendar indications, with the magnified date at 3 o’clock and the fully written day displayed above 6 o’clock.

Manufactured in September 1965, this reference 6206-8040 is powered by the 26-jewel Seiko calibre 6206 automatic movement, which operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour. The black sunburst dial is a particularly attractive and less commonly encountered variation of the reference.

Condition:

The watch is in very good vintage condition. The stainless steel case remains attractive, with some light scratches and small marks consistent with its age. The case back also shows visible surface wear, while its original engravings and serial number remain legible.

The black sunburst dial retains its distinctive finish and applied markers, with minor age-related marks and wear visible under close inspection. The original cyclops crystal has been polished and presents clearly overall, although some remaining scratches and imperfections may still be visible at certain angles.
