Takaoka Copperware (高岡銅器) Crane-Neck Vase by Shofu (松風)

This crane-neck vase from the Takaoka Copperware tradition is finished in a deep blue base with lavish gold accents throughout.

The front is decorated with a sixteen-petal chrysanthemum motif (十六弁菊花文), beneath which a golden cloud-sea design flows across the surface. The interplay of deep blue and gold creates a refined, elegant presence that shifts subtly with the light.

Takaoka Copperware is a traditional craft with roughly 400 years of history centered in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, and was designated a National Traditional Craft in 1975.

The wooden nameplate accompanying the piece is inscribed "青銅一輪生 松風", identifying it as the work of Shofu (松風).

A wooden stand is included. An inscription on the underside of the stand indicates that this piece commemorates a national honor received by the artist.
