Rare Art Deco Sterling Silver Champagne Stirrer (925) with Art Deco Cocktail Glass – Portable Folding Design – c. 1930–1940

An elegant and unusual Art Deco sterling silver champagne stirrer, fully hallmarked 925 silver, accompanied by a matching Art Deco cocktail or champagne coupe.

The stirrer features a clever telescopic folding mechanism, allowing the flexible wire arms to retract completely into the cylindrical handle. When closed it measures only 7.2 cm, making it compact enough to fit comfortably in a pocket or evening bag. Extended, it measures approximately 12 cm long with a spread of about 6 cm, 6 gram.

Originally intended for gently stirring Champagne Cocktails, sparkling wine or other mixed drinks, the flexible wire arms distribute the ingredients without excessive agitation, helping to preserve the bubbles. Such portable cocktail accessories became fashionable during the Art Deco period (circa 1925–1935), reflecting the era's fascination with elegant travel accessories, refined cocktail culture and ingenious mechanical design.
